If I'm hearing correctly, the counters used for wins and losses on the Japanese sumo broadcasts are sho and hai/pai as in san sho ippai or ni sho nihai. (Is is sho or shyo?) Where do these come from. AFAIK, hai/pai is the counter for bottles etc. as in birru ippai kudasai. --
