Ozone depletion actually increases UV radiation reaching the surface, a 
result of overuse of CFCs as a propellant in spray cans and fridge 
coolant - now banned.  It should not to be confused with greenhouse gas 
buildup which causes global warming.  These are two separate but 
sometimes intertwined issues e.g. they both decrease plankton numbers 
but for different reasons.

A more correct metaphor - he's burning his way through the makuuchi or 
he's punching holes through the other rikishi, but then again these 
metaphors fall down too as "Ozone's" rise/increase would actually be 
more protective against UV ;-).
