I notice through this Yaocho threads that we don't
seem to have the same definition of Yaocho.
Perhaps unlike most people here I have rather a strict
definition of it that it requires a financial
settlement and/or loan/debt arrangement.
All the others are not. No one cares about who wins or
loses in a Jyungyo. It doesn't mean anything so what's
the point. It's like watching Takamisakari's training
sessions. He loses even to a Sandanme guy if he is not
into it and most of the time in training he isn't in
it at all.
The same goes with all those 7-7 against 8-6 or 9-5
rikishis. Most rikishis want to just to finish the
basho without getting any injury once they get a
Kachikoshi so mentally they don't really go out like
no tomorrow.
For Juryo guys, there is no Kensho money available so
most rikishis don't have any easy and ready supply of
cash. Even at Makushita/Juryo on the line, if there
is a consistent law of Yaocho here, no rikishi will
fall down to Makushita unless they are on kyujo.
Monetary Yaocho happens with Makuuchi rikishis with a
winning record. If there ever is the Law of Yaocho,
rikishis who can't even get a Kachikoshi on their own
will have no rikishi willing to go along with them. It
will be considered as an insult to the other rikishi.
With or without money, rikishis do have a pride and
the worst thing another rikishi can do to another is
to insult him this way. He will become a pariah in no
time at all and fall down quickly to abyss.
