Asa missed keiko this morning after requesting a day of rest from his
shisho. "He will be coming tomorrow. Keiko regimen is an independent
thing, and timely recovery means he will be going for degeiko as well..",
explained Takasago Oyakata. As for the renewed speculation of Asa going
to Mongolia to treat the injury-"There are definitely no thoughts about
that at present. In any case, he is focused on training for Hatsu basho
and will do his best to make up for lost time", summed the Oyakata.
Yesterday,
Asa aggressively rejected the notion of going home for treatment, but
it has become known that he told his private doctor he wishes to return
to Mongolia. "I want to go home to Khujirt for treatment", he is
reported to have said. "There is still a lot of time till the basho
starts. Instead of putting him under unnecessary pressure, it's better
he should return home (for treatment), I think", said Dr. Hiraishi the
Ishi in no uncertain terms. 
In yesterday's keiko, although he was
asked to take it easy, he was seen doing squats with 108 kilo
Asadouryuu sitting on his back. In order to absorb the shiko stomps, he
did them on a towel. He did butsugari with the 196 kilo Asahimaru, not
showing any signs of discomfort after the keiko as he was being
interviewed by the press.
Usually every year at this time, Asa goes
home to rest. This time, Takasago has said he will not allow it. Asa
promised to listen to his Oyakata from now on only a few days ago. How
this will pan out is anyone's guess.
