Part of the complete bizarreness of this entire
controversy is how many people in this list and
elsewhere keep throwing in the word "honor" as regards
the Yokozuna skipping a tour of essentially
pre-determined sumo performances..in order to
participate in a charity event in his home country.
Cultural insensitivities be damned..this is just
completely stupid on the part of the kyokai.
Defending a "tradition" of touring fake matches (the
price of entry certainly isn't fake by the way) being
treated as if Asashoryu has spit on the Emporer is
simply absurd.
The Kyokai has lost it's collective mind and this is
nothing more then an attempt to push him out. I
hardly think that Hakuho is a worthwhile replacement
as he is nothing more then a cheap understudy.
