I am not an apologist nor financially associated with the Nihon Sumo
Kyokai,
but I feel they were within their rights to give this punishment to Shoryu.
All his accomplishments will mean nothing to most Japanese if he disregards
and
embarrass the culture that let him become a Dai Yokozuna. This IS "JAPAN",
not any
other society. You should accept the Japanese culture and society with all
their problems, you don't have to like them, but in the end, it is their
choice.
To make a difference in trying to change them, come to Japan and try to have
the Japanese society embrace YOUR "superior culture". Best of luck

I think you meant to write "burakUmin"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burakumin
Or was it "American Indians"?
