They didn't "order" him to poarticipate, because a minute earlier, 
before the sentencing, they decided unanimously that he was a persona 
non grata at the jungyo, thank you very much. His Oyakata immediately 
volunteered to force him to come regardless, but was met with a loud "NO!".
As for the fans, at this point, the fans don't want anything to do with 
Asa. They already KNOW he won't be coming, so no one will be 
disappointed. Before this happened, they payed for tickets in order to 
see hi, hence the deep disappointment and resentment. There are 
currently some on-line polls about this, and his popularity is in the 
low 10 percent on average. If he were to show up, he would be booed to 
kingdom come.
We'll see the reception he'll be getting when he returns in January.
