Apologies if this possibility has already been covered. But let's say going
into
senshuraku Hakuho is 12-2. Asashoryu is 13-1. Hakuho loses, and ends up 12-3.
Asashoryu wins, to go 14-1. Takamisakari also wins to get a 14-1 record,
but he
hasn't faced the top rankers. Takamisakari goes on to defeat Asahoryu and win
the yusho (although he's obviously paid a lot of yen to get there ;-)
So, Hakuho not only fails to get the jun-yusho, but he's two wins behind
the top
two. Does he get a yokozuna promotion in recognition of the fact that he
wasn't
mathematically out of it going into the last day?

P.S. Should this chain of events actually occur, I could die a happy guy :)
