As my first tournament watching in high-def, and enjoying a lot of
previously invisible detail, I have got to agree. In the first replay (from
the north side) it was apparent that something was up with the mage, but
neither of the commentators (english side) picked up on it as a reason for
the judges conference. It bothered me that while the south-side view was
pretty good (you could see chiyotaikai had a solid grip on the hair as he
started backwards) they did not elect to go to the over-the-head angle they
had been using (to great effect) this tournament. It would have been the
definitive shot, since Asa's body had blocked most of the south-angle as he
flew towards the edge.
I would say the call was off here.
