Roho, Kotomitsuki and Asashoryu won today and share the 6-1 lead with
Ama who lost the sole lead as quickly as it came, suffering a
katasukashi loss to Iwakiyama. Other interesting kimarite today were a
shitatehineri win for Asasekiryu and a tsukite (inadvertent hand touch
down) loss for Yoshikaze.

Tamanoshima padded his career record against Kaio to 5-16 with the
second fusen among the five wins as Kaio pulled out of the basho with
lower back pain. Out of the four remaining ozeki three won with Hakuho
losing to Kotomitsuki. It looks very much like Hakuho's yokozuna run is
over. At least Miyabiyama's ozeki run has a little life left as he beat
Kisenosato to improve to 4-3.

Aminishiki beat a tall Mongolian with sotogake for the second day in a
row, today the prey was Kyokutenho. At 5-2 Aminishiki normally would be
a hot sanyaku contender since he already faced five sanyaku rikishi,
losing only to the yokozuna. But for now he has to wait behind the two
lead maegashira Roho and Baruto who are doing well too.

In an unusual development seven of the eight juryo leaders who didn't
fight among them actually won today. Along with the two intra-leader
bouts we have a total of nine leaders at 5-2 now. Tochiozan remains one
win behind with his fourth straight win. Satoyama had a nice win on day
2, but by now he is vying with Buyuzan and Dewaotori for the worst
record. Masatsukasa is the sole 2-5 rikishi.
