The yokozuna gave away the first kinboshi of the basho, along
with all five ozeki providing nice ginboshi. With these surprises
the overall scoring wasn't too high with an average of just 58
points, but with a wide spread from 24 points to 112 points.
Jejima had the 112 points today with a record amount of 54 extra
points. He has a 16 point lead in the shukun-sho over Imumaru
who had 46 extra points and 110 points today. In the overall
standings Susanoo fell back behind these two to thirs place.
In another remarkable event Herritaro jumped 75 places with
94 points to snag the gino-sho lead on day 6. The four yokozuna
are doing well now as one of them had a good jump of his own
and now all four are at 11-4 or better with Takatamale even
is in yusho contention in fifth place.
