Sumo World May 2006 extract -

History will be made this tourney at the Kokugikan when the current
yumitori-shiki will be a Sekitori. Ms4e Oga put together a very respectable
5-2 result at the last Basho to be promoted to the paid ranks. He has
performing the twirling bow dance at the end of each day of sumo since
January 2004. He will continue to serve this cermonial role in the Natsu
basho while ranked at J13e.

Oga has been in sumo for 13 years. It has taken him 79 Basho to reach
Juryo, which is the 9th longest in sumo. Upon receiving word that his
promotion from Makushita to Juryo was offical, "since it took me so long and
after so much effort, I am going to do my damndest to win kachi-koshi . . ."

Ex-Maegashira 11 Daigo did the yumitori-shiki from November 1973 until May
1975. He was behind the curtain for these appearances, expect the May 1975
Basho, when he was in Juryo. Oga will have to get 8 wins or better this
Basho if he wants to break the record of two basho in Juryo performing the
yumitori-shiki.
