Dear all,
As is our custom, concurrent with the release of the new banzuke (for which
our Editor-in-Chief will soon be heading off to the Kokugikan), I take great
pleasure in announcing the publication of Issue #9 of Sumo Fan Magazine.
Some of our articles are printable with this issue, so you can take them
along.
We have several of our regular columns, as well as the first part of a
trilogy on things sumo by Contributing Writer, Mr. Chris Gould from the UK,
who gives us his take on the seeming failure of sumo to catch on with
today's younger Japanese. Joe Kuroda has written a retrospective on the
career of Isegahama oyakata, who will retire during the Kyushu basho.
And, for you amateur sumo fans, we have a report on the recently completed
Sakai, Osaka World Championships, as well as highlights from Estonia and
Riesa, Germany, plus photo bonanzas galore.
Along with Denis Chaton's French translation of practically the whole issue,
Alexander Hermann has now become our German translator and we are pleased to
present many of our articles in that language. Leonishiki (Eduardo de Paz)
has graciously given us his original Spanish of his impressions at being at
live sumo for the first time.
Have a look - and note our "countdown clock" on our home page.
With very kind regards,
Barbara Ann Klein
