Asashoryu won against Tochiazuma to almost clinch the yusho. Homasho won
against Kyokutenho to keep some theoretical chances as he stays two wins
behind the yokozuna with two days to go. The ozeki are beating each
other, today Kotooshu got a win against Chiyotaikai, leaving Kaio as the
ozeki with the best record at 10-3 as he managed to beat Kotomitsuki,
improving to 9-16 against him.

Miyabiyama lost to Tokitenku and has to beat Kotomitsuki and Kaio on the
last two days to stay sekiwake. Kisenosato has similar problems at the
komusubi rank as he fell to 6-7 with a loss against Kotoshogiku falling
behind 4-5 in this rivalry going back to juryo. Aminishiki suffered a
yoritaoshi from Futeno and is the second make-koshi komusubi. Roho won
against Kokkai and at 7-6 to keep good chances to defend the komusubi
rank. He meets Dejima tomorrow who is 9-4 with a win against Asasekiryu
and at M3 is ready to get promoted to a possible free sanyaku slot.

Kitazakura and Katayama lost today and don't have room for another loss
anymore. Hakurozan is used to that since he fell to 0-8 on day 8, and he
won his fifth straight and needs just two more to reach a saving 7-8.
Tosanoumi lost to Shimotori and still needs at least one more win after
losing the last six bouts.

Jumonji continues to rack up wins in juryo as he beat Kyokunankai to
remove the Oshima-beya sekitori from the yusho race. Satoyama also ran
out of chances with the kirikaeshi loss to Goeido. At least Wakanosato
won, sending Mokonami to make-koshi and likely to makushita, and keeping
himself at one win behind Jumonji. Tomorrow the two leaders meet the
youngsters Tochiozan and Goeido to set up a very likely bout against
each other on senshuraku.
