I had time today to archive the day 1 video, so just for fun I made some
short excerpts. There are no sumo matches in these; instead they are
the short filler segments, but they show how interesting it is to watch
the entire broadcast instead of just seeing highlights. This day we had
the precise play annunciation of Ross Mihara combined with the soothing
tones of the encyclopedic Doreen Simmons. These video files are in Xvid
format, 480x360 resolution, suitable for viewing on computer. Since I
do not have a lot of data transfer available on my server I will only
leave these available for a few hours, maybe until Monday morning
sometime. Sorry, I cannot leave them online. Those who read the
mailing list before the files are removed will see the links early
enough to download or view the files.
The first shows what Ross refers to as "a Dark Horse Contender" to take
the yuusho, Kotooshu, practicing and talking to the camera.

The second shows Ozeki Kaiou practicing and meeting some young fans.
Look how tiny their hands are in comparison to his when he shakes hands!

The third shows Ama and Kisenosato going through a brutal and exhausting
series of practice bouts in their heya:

The fourth shows the stadium at Fukuoka, photographic displays, and some
comments on the history of sumo at this location:

I think these clips show how essential and valuable the English-language
service is to the sumo broadcast. Without it, sumo watching just isn't
the same. Let me know if anything is wrong with these clips, or if you
found them useful. They are 17 to 25 megabytes each.
