My two yen:

Whenever a response is out of proportion to the incident being
responded to,  red lights go off in my mind.   Mr. Buckton's
overreaction to the use of another person's photo was totally
inappropriate.  One can only assume that it threatened him in some way.
The most likely threat would be to his pocketbook.  It is likely
that  Mr. Buckton in his position as editor in chief receives requests
to write articles for other publication for remuneration and makes me
think that he is all about self-promotion.    His radical response -
calling the French embassy was bizzare.  It could be likened to those
of us who had a real issue with an unnamed publisher of a paper english
language sumo magazine sending Dog the Bounty Hunter over to Japan to
bring the guy to justice.   But we didn't.   His calling for LMDS to be
taken offline further indicates that he is threatened by something.

Legally there are issues which are valid;   however in the spirit of
sharing Sumo with the rest of the world it behooves all of us to
exchange and share.  There is added value when the copy write  is
labeled along with any associated publication.  People then are alerted
to another publication  which shares the rich world of sumo.

I love all the online sumo publications.  French, English,
Spanish...........  I can glean much from each of them.  Mr. Buckton's
behavior around this issue of a rival sumo fan magazine publishing ANY
picture without credits somehow has shaken his foundation.  Is it
really any of his business? It seems that the photo wasn't even
his, and that the photographer and LMDS settled it between themselves.
Please Mr. Buckton.  Chill.  It's not all about you.
